FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of ecologically clean light sources. First one prepares initial mixture of the following components, mol%: potassium carbonate K2CO3 – 12.5; calcium carbonate CaCO3 – 25; boric acid H3BO3 – 50, and rare-earth element of neodymium oxide Nd2O3 – 12.5. Obtained mixture is annealed at 650 °C for a day. Then the annealed powder is grinded, tableted, reheated to 850 °C and held at this temperature for 8–12 hours. Obtained photoluminescent material of rare-earth orthoborate has composition KCaNd(BO3)2, spatial group Pbca of orthorhombic system, parameters of lattice a=10.2069(5)Å, b=9.0293(4)Å, c=13.1634(5)Å, Z=8 and emits light in range of 850–1,080 nm.
EFFECT: invention widens the range of materials having photoluminescent properties.
