FIELD: growing monocrystals; preparation of solution-melt for growing monocrystals β-BaB2O4 in flux. SUBSTANCE: charge is produced by two-stage solid-phase synthesis through heating the barium carbonate, sodium carbonate and boric acid at temperature of 180-200 C for 16-20 h and at temperature of 680-700 C for 8 h. Solution-melt may be used repeatedly if main compound - barium metaborate is added to solution-melt after each growth cycle; mass of barium metaborate is equal to mass of grown crystal. Barium metaborate is produced by two-stage solid-phase synthesis from mixture of barium carbonate and boric acid in accordance with modes of conducting solid-phase synthesis of charge; temperature at second stage ranges from 780 to 800 C.
