FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a photoluminescent material based on samarium scandoborate by the formula SmSc(BO3)2, emitting light from 566 to 708 nm, crystallising in a trigonal system with a space group with the parameters of a unit cell a = 4.8923(4) , c = 16.3003 (13) . Scandoborate is grown by a spontaneous crystallisation method from own melt of a mixture of initial components taken at a stoichiometric ratio.
EFFECT: invention provides an expanded range of materials with photoluminescent properties.
