FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and represents a method for predicting the rate of progressing multiple sclerosis in patients receiving therapy with interferon-beta preparations. Invention enables predicting the clinical course of MS prior to prescribing treatment with interferon-beta preparations and is carried out as follows: DNA sample recovered from peripheral venous blood of MS patient, is examined by polymorphisms, using as primers DNA section of KIF1B C/T (rs10492972), ZFHX4 C/G (rs11787532), STARD13 G/T (rs9527281), CIT C/T (rs7308076), ZFAT A/C (rs733254) genes, for each of said polymorphisms, a heterozygous or homozygous genotype is established and a dominant allele is determined, and in the presence of a heterozygous genotype, it is determined by the ratio of threshold amplification cycles on FAM and VIC (HEX) channels, haplotype is determined as a combination of five dominant alleles and if observing TGTCA haplotype in MS genome, high rate of progressing of multiple sclerosis is predicted in patients receiving therapy with interferon-beta preparations.
EFFECT: invention enables predicting the clinical course of MS prior to prescribing treatment with interferon-beta preparations.
