FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a valve for a liquid medium, as well as to a method of modifying throughput capacity and/or characteristic of a valve. Valve of liquid type has a body limiting the valve chamber connecting the inlet with the outlet, and the gate located with possibility of movement in the valve chamber on its inlet end. Valve includes a seat interacting with the valve gate, and the first control plate having a through hole, which determines throughput capacity and flow characteristic in the valve. Valve gate has a spherical outer surface interacting with the valve seat and being rotatable about an axis passing through the center defined by radius (R) of the spherical surface of the valve gate. Control plate is a component which holds the valve seat in place in the valve and performs a double function which consists in controlling the liquid flow and acting as a closing plate for retaining the valve seat in place. Adjusting plate holds the valve seat in place and is located at a distance (d) from the outer spherical surface of the valve gate, wherein said distance (d) is at least 5 % of the radius (R) of the outer surface of the spherical shape.
EFFECT: technical result is simplification of possibility of changing throughput capacity and/or characteristics of valve and elimination of possibility of solid particles getting stuck in this valve.
