FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication, particularly to frequency hopping patterns of a narrow-band physical random access channel and random access preamble detection circuits. Allocated frequency resources of a physical random access channel (PRACH) can be assigned for large and small frequency jumps to facilitate determination of timing offsets for PRACH transmissions. For example, a frequency hopping pattern within a PRACH with multiple one-tone transmissions may include a first number of jumps associated with a first spacing of frequency hopping (for example, large frequency jumps), and a second number of jumps associated with a second frequency hopping distance (for example, small frequency jumps).
EFFECT: technical result is providing high timing resolution and eliminating large propagation delays.
