FIELD: microbiology; medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical microbiology. Disclosed is a method for preliminary identification of non-tuberculosis micobacteria. Method involves resection of a pure culture of non-tuberculous mycobacteria on a dense nutrient medium "Uriselect 4" by streaks and incubation at 28 °C until growth of isolated colonies. That is followed by preliminary identification of non-tuberculosis mycobacteria by their cultural properties: size of colonies, color, growth time.
