FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine. Method of processing accelerometer signals for use in monitoring vital signs of a subject is carried out using a processing system comprising an accelerometer and a processing device. Signal input unit is used to obtain an accelerometer signal over time which is associated with a cardiovascular or respiratory event of the individual and measured for one spatial direction. Envelope signal for the accelerometer input signal is determined using the envelope determination unit. Computing unit is used to calculate correction factor based on estimated time interval between first and second physiological events of subject. Correction coefficient is calculated using a primary function which contains a secondary function which depends on a certain envelope signal, a positive and/or negatively time-shifted version of the envelope signal. Correcting unit is used to adjust specific envelope signal by multiplying said envelope signal by calculated correction coefficient.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and reliability of obtaining vital signs, even in case of artefacts of patient movement and/or presence of arrhythmia in patient.
