FIELD: ecology.
SUBSTANCE: method is proposed for assessment of environmental contamination with admixtures of acidic or alkaline substances and assessment of mineralization of dust-like particles in zones of anthropogenic impact, including simultaneous taking of analyzed samples from crown of single-aged woody plants on experimental investigated territory and on control conditionally clean territory, testing of analyzed samples, analysis of test results of analyzed samples with test results of control samples. Assessment of environmental contamination involves four steps, wherein at the first step, the analyzed samples are represented by leaves of woody plants with dust particles on their surface, wherein collection of leaves of analyzed samples on experimental analyzed territory and on reference conditionally clean territory is carried out in dry weather during vegetation period, for this purpose, one leaves are taken from one woody plant, and total sampling is 100 leaves from 10 closely growing woody plants of the same species both in the experimental investigated territory, and on the monitored conditionally clean territory, at the second stage, analyzed samples are tested, for which collected leaves of wood plants in amount of 10 pieces are placed in a beaker with distilled water with volume of 100 ml, they are mixed in distilled water for 2–3 minutes and an aqueous suspension is obtained with content of dust particles washed off from leaf plates of wood plants, at the third step, the obtained aqueous suspension is measured after washing dust off the leaves of the wood plants according to the activity of hydrogen ions – hydrogen pH, quantitatively expressing acidity, and specific electrical conductivity – EC, mcS/cm, an index of total concentration of ions of inorganic substances in the aqueous suspension of dust washing from leaves of wood plants, similar tests are carried out for each sample of 10 closely growing wood plants, and at the fourth stage as a result of analysis of hydrogen pH values, and specific electric conductivity – EC, obtained for each sample with 10 closely growing wood plants of the same species both on the experimental study territory, and on the monitored conditionally clean territory, according to known mathematical dependence arithmetic mean values of hydrogen pH and specific electrical conductivity of EC are calculated, from which state of environmental pollution is determined, wherein if values of specific electrical conductivity of aqueous suspension after washing dust of medium exceed values of specific electrical conductivity of aqueous suspension after washing dust of conditionally clean zone up to 2 times, and the pH of the aqueous suspension after washing the dust of the medium below the pH of the aqueous suspension after washing the dust of the conventionally clean zone, then the environment is considered to be contaminated.
EFFECT: high efficiency of the method of assessing environmental pollution.
