FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of the ecology and can be used for the assess the degree of pollution, such as urban areas or forest area. The method includes measuring of morphological characteristic of drooping birch and comparing the obtained value with the value characteristic of the background area. Measure the diameter of the trunk in two mutually perpendicular directions north-south and east-west and calculate the ratio of the values obtained. Besides the smaller this ratio is, the lower the quality of the environment is.
EFFECT: method allows to increase the sensitivity of detection when the year-round use, allows you to determine the quality of the environment, not only this year but also in all previous years.
