FIELD: ecology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ecology and can be used to assess the degree of environmental pollution, for example, of urban territory sections. Method involves calculation of the difference between values of morphological parameters in the left and right side of a leaf, as well as their sums, further calculation of fluctuating asymmetry index of leaves and comparison of the obtained value of this index with the index value, typical for the background territory. At that, it is necessary to measure the width of leaves located in pairs (oppositely) on offshoots. Measurements of leaves width required for calculation of the fluctuating asymmetry index, are made on leaves of the first (upper) tier. For measurement of leaves width use is made of Hungarian garden lilac.
EFFECT: method allows to optimise the process of determining the fluctuating asymmetry index and to increase sensitivity of evaluation.
