FIELD: production of composite materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to neutron protection comprising a metal-hydride-metal composite. Metal-hydride-metal composite contains: a metal matrix and a plurality of metal hydride particles dispersed in the metal matrix. At that, fraction of metal hydride in metal-hydride-metal composite is at least 1 mol.%, and the volume fraction of the metal hydride in the metal-hydride-metal composite is not greater than the ratio of the solubility limit of hydrogen in the metal matrix in the solid state and the molar fraction of hydrogen in the metal hydride.
EFFECT: increased efficiency and reliability of neutron protection due to prevention of oversaturation of metal matrix with hydrogen caused by kinetic effects of diffusion.
