SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition used for the protection of reactor components from nuclear radiation. The powder composition for the protection of reactor components from nuclear radiation contains, at.%: boron 21-41, iron 25-35, chrome 2-4, carbon 3-10, tungsten is the rest. A method for manufacturing a component for the protection of a reactor from nuclear radiation includes providing powders containing B, Fe, Cr, C and W in the above-mentioned amount, grinding powders with an organic binder to obtain a powder mixture, pressing and reaction sintering to obtain a sintered composition.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at obtaining a thin protective layer with optimal absorbing properties, resistant to cracking, that does not form harmful byproducts during operation.
