SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering for encoding an image. Technical result is achieved by a first coding step for arithmetic coding of each binary symbol included in said first signal using a context switched among a plurality of contexts in accordance with a bit position of the binary symbol; and a second encoding step for arithmetic coding of said second signal using a fixed probability when the binary signal includes said second signal, wherein at said first encoding step, a binary symbol in the last bit position of said first signal is arithmetically encoded using a context which is unique to the last bit position when said first signal has said predetermined maximum length.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of encoding accuracy.
