FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method includes preliminary treatment of an outer surface of an insulator structure with subsequent application of a hydrophobic coating of identical thickness on it. The coating is prepared on the basis of one or two packing organosilicic compound of cold hardening, liquid or paste-like in the initial condition. The compound contains silicon low-molecular rubber, a filler, and also a hardener. The hydrophobic coating is applied on the entire surface of the structure with thickness within 80-800 mcm, depending on conditions of operation of the electric insulating structure. The produced hydrophobic coating in vulcanised condition is characterised by the value of the edge angle of wetting from 60° to 179°, tracking erosion resistance of at least 500 hours at working voltages of 6-750 kV, and also the value of arc resistance of at least 100 mA with duration of effect of at least 600 s.
EFFECT: provision of high values of discharge voltages during operation of an electric insulating structure under conditions of dirt of various extent and moisture.
