SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to electrical traction systems of vehicles. Electric railway vehicle drive system comprises a first power supply unit, a second power supply unit, a traction converter, a unit for issuing operating instructions and a control unit configured to control the traction transducer. Unit for issuing working instructions includes device for issuing working instructions, made with possibility to issue first working command of motion mode, a second operating mode command and a control command which controls the traction transducer. Control unit is configured to supply power from first power supply unit to traction transducer in response to receiving first working command, interruption of power supply from the first power supply unit and supply of power from the second power supply unit to the traction converter in response to reception of the second working command and use of the second power supply unit as power supply source of the railway vehicle. Also disclosed are a drive system variant and a vehicle drive method.

EFFECT: possibility of driving a vehicle without requiring electric power supply from outside.
