FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to experimental surgery, and can be used in scientific studies to simulate a limited pus-inflammatory process in the abdominal cavity in rats. Method involves administering into the animal's abdominal cavity 15 % suspension of faeces in an isotonic sodium chloride solution in amount of 1 ml per 100 g of the animal's body weight. Under the control of ultrasound, a modified Foley catheter is inserted into the right iliac region of the rat abdomen through the trocar. After filling the balloon, the distal portion of the catheter is ligatured and fixed by skin duplication. Infectious agent is introduced into the formed cavity.
EFFECT: method provides minimal injuries, guaranteed formation of local circumscribed peritonitis (LCP) in the shortest possible time, does not lead to early death of animals, which enables to develop new methods for effective treatment of LCP by adding to the abdominal cavity a faecal suspension in isotonic sodium chloride solution.
