FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a vehicle engine cooling system. Disclosed are methods and systems for controlling the flow of cooling liquid in a cooling system of a vehicle during an engine start event. In one example, the method may comprise steps of: during an engine start event, controlling the engine coolant flow path in the vehicle cooling system by the passive valve and the actively-controlled valve, and in response to the engine coolant temperature below the threshold during the engine start event, isolating the engine coolant flow path to the cooling system unit to provide fast warm-up of the engine coolant without stopping the engine coolant in the engine. This allows for quick warm-up of engine coolant during engine start-up event by isolating cooling liquid flow, and not by stopping flow of cooling liquid, which in turn enables to reduce non-uniform heating of components of engine system and thereby prolong service life of engine system.
EFFECT: invention provides for control of cooling liquid flow in engine cooling system without stopping cooling liquid in engine.
