FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: methods and systems to accelerate the warming-up of the engine system by detained refrigerant coolant in one of the many circuits in the engine cooling system are proposed. Perfomance deterioration of the various valves and cooling system thermostats may be diagnosed by valve adjustment and changes monitoring in one or more of the coolant temperatures, transmission temperature, and the temperature in the cabin. Various valves can be adjusted to change the refrigerant coolant temperature in different areas of the cooling system on the basis of the engine operating conditions, thereby providing the benefits from the fuel economy point of view.
EFFECT: improved engine performance due to coolant temperature control in the main line.
