FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to X-ray sources for selective production of X-rays with different wavelengths. Wide-range X-ray tube comprises a sealed housing with a window for outputting a working X-ray beam, a cathode, an anode with targets, an anode drive, a focusing electrode. At that, the anode with targets is made rotary and is equipped with a drive providing rotation of the anode by a given angle, its fixation or its continuous or discrete rotation with corresponding angular velocity in one direction or another, wherein the drive is made in the form of a step motor and is equipped with a control device. Targets can be massive or obstructed. Bullet targets are made in the form of circular sectors, and massive targets are made in the form of sectors of truncated cone side surface.
EFFECT: technical result is wider range of wavelengths of X-rays, adding the possibility of modulation on the wavelength of X-rays and simplified design.
