FIELD: roentgen rays generation.
SUBSTANCE: proposed X-ray tube has vacuum envelope with output aperture disposed in barrel-shaped depression in side wall of envelope; the latter accommodates electron source (cathode), focusing system, and reflecting target whose metal is applied to substrate (anode). The latter has radial recess that falls short of electron beam axial line extension (aligned with tube axis), and edge of reflecting target surface abuts against edge of anode recess. Proposed design ensures short distance between focal spot and output aperture surface and enables use of tube in conjunction with short-focus X-ray lenses. At the same time power typical of reflecting anode tubes is maintained at same level.
EFFECT: reduced distance between reflecting-target focal spot and output aperture without reducing tube power.
