SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to monitoring of side mirrors in self-contained vehicles. Method for monitoring side mirrors comprises the steps of determining, in a first vehicle, functioning in autonomous mode, that second vehicle is within range for detection of side rearview mirror, turning in first vehicle rearview side mirror into first position, receiving from the second vehicle a first image representing said side rearview mirror, turning the side rearview mirror to the second position, receiving from the second vehicle second image representing the side rearview mirror, analysing the first and second images, verifying that the working state of the side rearview mirror is one of: (1) stuck in first position, (2) stuck in second position, (3) is stuck between the first and second positions and (4) can be turned into each of the first and second positions, and outputting the operating state to the display.

EFFECT: reduced aerodynamic resistance, due to control of side mirrors.
