FIELD: motor vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for preventing traffic accidents when changing lanes on highways. The device contains: double-antenna radar sensors, a control unit, transceivers, LED indicators, and a steering wheel vibration motor. The dual-antenna radar sensors are installed on the right and the left edges of the vehicle's rear bumper. The side rear view mirrors are equipped with separate red or green alarms depending on safety of the distance between the car and the obstacle in the adjacent lane. The control unit recognizes the lane change manoeuver and calculates the speed at which the lateral gap between the vehicle and the obstacle in the adjacent lane closes.
EFFECT: identification of an emergency situation during a lane change is achieved.
