FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of metal coatings, in particular to aqueous solutions of contact copper plating, and can be used in various industries for application on surface of steel articles of copper coating, which plays the role of sublayer or decorative image, including art. Solution contains copper sulphate 5–40 g/l, sulphuric acid 20–100 g/l, carboxylic acid or sodium salt thereof, selected from a group comprising amino-acetic, tartaric, gluconic, citric, lactic, acetic, malic acid, in amount of 0.1–40 g/l or salicylic acid or its sodium salt in amount of 0.1–2 g/l. Additionally the solution can contain tin salt in terms of metal, 0.05–2.5 g/l.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain on the surface of articles made from steel lustrous and semi-shiny, low-porous coatings having good adhesion to steel, and when depositing in windows of protective resist decorative images of high quality.
