SUBSTANCE: device (4) for preparation of a beverage or a food product comprises a component processing unit (14) configured to prepare a beverage or a food product from a beverage component or a food product, wherein said component processing unit (14) comprises pump (22) arranged to supply fluid to said beverage component or product; control system (16) configured to control the shape of the electric power wave supplied to pump (22), wherein said control includes, at the start-up step, cutting a portion of the repeating unit period of said waveform, wherein the cut portion is varied nonlinearly in time between the start and end of the start-up step with a high rate of change near the end, wherein control system (16) is configured to reduce the cut-off part from the initial value at a specific rate or to keep the cut-off part constant during filling liquid line, through which pump (22) pumped fluid medium, and increasing said speed after filling.
