SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a cartridge assembly for an aerosol-generating system for delivering an aerosol to a user and an aerosol-generating system for delivering an aerosol to a user. Cartridge assembly comprises a cartridge having an upstream end and a downstream end. Cartridge comprises a first compartment, having a first air inlet at the upstream end of the cartridge and a first air outlet at the downstream end of the cartridge. Cartridge includes a second compartment having a second air inlet at the upstream end of the cartridge and a second air outlet at the downstream end of the cartridge. Cartridge has a cartridge holder, wherein a portion of the cartridge is placed inside the cartridge holder. Cartridge assembly includes a mouthpiece having an upstream end and a downstream end. Cartridge holder section is arranged inside the mouthpiece, downstream end of the cartridge is located at a distance from the downstream end of the mouthpiece to form a mixing chamber between the downstream end of the cartridge and the downstream end of the mouthpiece, and a portion of the cartridge holder is located at a distance from the mouthpiece to form an air flow channel between the cartridge holder and the mouthpiece. Cartridge assembly has an air vent to allow fluid communication between the downstream section of the air flow channel and the mixing chamber. Aerosol-generating system for delivering an aerosol to a user comprises a cartridge assembly, an aerosol-generating device configured to be connected to the cartridge assembly. Aerosol-generating device comprises an electric heater for heating the cartridge when the cartridge assembly is connected to the aerosol-generating device. Aerosol-generating device has a power supply and a controller configured to control power supply from the power supply to the electric heater. Aerosol-generating device forms a system air inlet, providing fluid communication between the area outside the aerosol generating system and each of the first air inlet, the second air inlet and the upstream end of the air flow channel.
EFFECT: dilution of the main air flow containing the generated aerosol to provide the required aerosol concentration for the user.
