LIGHTING UNIT FOR SCANNING FOR DIGITAL PATHOLOGY Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC G02B21/08 G02B21/36

Abstract RU 2717745 C2

FIELD: digital pathology.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a scanner lighting unit for a digital pathology. Scanner lighting unit comprises a light source, a light mixing chamber and a light diffuser. Light source comprises a plurality of lighting elements arranged longitudinally along the direction of the linear length with a pitch, the ratio of the pitch of the lighting elements to the height of the light mixing chamber ranges from 1/5 to 1/20. Light diffuser converts light into uniform at different angles, in particular at small angles with range of numerical aperture, NA, less than 0.1, wherein uniformity of light emitted from light diffuser is provided in form of light distribution along direction of linear length. Mixing chamber comprises a transparent volume providing a mixing distance between the plurality of lighting elements and the light diffuser, such that light at a uniform intensity is provided at a far edge of the mixing chamber, note here that mixing chamber is arranged to propagate light between plurality of lighting elements and light diffuser. Light mixing chamber is provided as a first step of aligning the lighting elements so that light has uniform intensity before the light enters the light diffuser, then a light diffuser is provided to provide uniform illumination also with respect to uniformity at different angles.

EFFECT: technical result is improved quality of lighting.
