SUBSTANCE: invention discloses methods and systems for indicating degradation of a compression ratio change mechanism (CRCM). Controller may detect degradation of the CRCM mechanism based on the feedback signal on the position of the mechanism or based on the frequency of detonation and use of delayed adaptive ignition.
EFFECT: at jamming of CRCM mechanism, detonation and premature ignition, which can be caused by continuous operation of engine at higher than provided compression degree, can be reduced by limiting engine load.
