FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vacuum electronics, and more specifically to design of an electron gun designed for creation of electron beams in vacuum electronic devices and devices of various types. In the device, the cathode emitting surface has a coating which enables to obtain effective electron field emission when the corresponding potential difference is supplied between cathode (1), anode (2) and those of the control electrodes which act as pullers (5), wherein the other part of control electrodes (3), (4) serves as a focusing electrode, which when the corresponding potentials are supplied to them lead to compression (focusing) of the electron beam emitted from cathode (1) surface to the electron gun axis.
EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the electron beam current density generated by the field-emission cathode.
