FIELD: electronic equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electronic engineering, in particular to design of single-point and multi-point field emission cathodes for electrovacuum devices, including microwave range of wavelengths. Mechanical strength of adhesion of the field emitter to the substrate is provided by the fact that the field emitter is an extension of the substrate in the perpendicular direction to it and is integral with it, and the ratio of the length of the blade of the single "pointed-blade" field emission cathode L and the radius of its curvature R L≤(5÷10)R provides increasing of field emission current and its stability during ion bombardment due to increase of emitting surface area. "pointed-blade" field emission cathode in shape is a "pushpin" made of metal foil with thickness Δ, and the field emitter vertically oriented to the substrate is its continuation, besides, the field emitter length is equal to the foil thickness. Field emitter has the shape of a tetrahedral pyramid. Its opposite faces, two in the form of a triangle and two in the form of a quadrangle, converge on its vertex, forming a blade in the form of a triangular wedge on its vertex with length L and radius of curvature of the vertex R.
EFFECT: increase in mechanical strength, increase in field emission current by several orders of magnitude in comparison with single-point field emission cathode, as well as increased resistance to ion bombardment due to increased emission area.
