FIELD: fire-fighting equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fire extinguishing on large tanks with highly-flammable liquids (HFL) and combustible liquids (CL). Increased efficiency of explosion and fire prevention and fire extinguishing at large tanks with CL and HFL, protection and reliability of automated fire extinguishing means according to the proposed method of automated prevention and fire extinguishing at the tank with CL and HFL generation and supply of fire extinguishing substance jets to the tank is carried out by means of automated fire extinguishing appliances located in idle position behind the perimeter of the tank and automatically turning in horizontal plane into working position inside perimeter of reservoir when fire extinguishing substance is supplied into it under action of reactive forces of exiting fire extinguishing jets.

EFFECT: invention can be applied for extinguishing fires of flammable liquids or combustible liquids in large tanks capacity of more than 50,000 m3, which is required for the availability of automated fire extinguishing means.
