FIELD: engine technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for restoring the working valve face of the gas distribution mechanism of an internal combustion engine and can be used in engine-building and repair production. Cleaning, flaw detection and primary mechanical treatment of the working valve face are carried out. Then, a nickel-based powder composition is surfaced with the addition of silicon carbide and zirconium dioxide by short-pulse laser treatment and smoothing of the surface of the working valve face with maintaining the valve angle in the range of 45 ± 0.5° and obtaining the roughness of the surface of the working valve face Ra 0.32.
EFFECT: invention provides a superhard wear-resistant heat-resistant coating with a low coefficient of friction of 0.12-0.15, thickness within 10-15 microns, having a gradient of properties in thickness, and thermal resistance at 1000°C.
