SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Control device for internal combustion engine includes electronic control module, made with possibility i) to perform fuel introduction process, ii) calculate total injection volume during fuel injection and control each of fuel injection valves based on required injection volume per cylinder when fuel injection process is performed, and iii) perform the cylinders deactivation process to stop the fuel injection for one or several cylinders and control each of the fuel injection valves so that the fuel volume obtained by dividing the total injection volume, injected for cylinder or cylinders, other than one or some cylinders, for which fuel injection is terminated when fuel injection process is performed.

EFFECT: invention prevents excessive temperature rise of the three-component catalyst.
