FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to operation of internal combustion engine of cylinders in ignition misfire mode. Providing implementation options for engine operation with possibility of ignition misfire. In one example, the method includes, in misfire mode or when switching to misfire mode, by injecting into inlet channels, injecting first amount of fuel into engine cylinder, wherein first amount of fuel is based on first, predicted volume of air charge for cylinder and is insufficient for required air-fuel ratio, as well as, by means of direct injection, injecting into cylinder of second amount of fuel, wherein second amount is based on first amount of fuel and second, calculated volume of air charge for said cylinder.
EFFECT: technical result is increase of fuel economy under conditions of low loads and improvement of characteristics on emissions into atmosphere.
