FIELD: metrology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metrology, in particular to method of determining oscillation amplitude of cutting tool. Method consists in creation of beam of light barrier, positioning of cutting tool top in light beam, reduction of cutting tool in oscillatory motion, determining amplitude of oscillations of cutting tool from light beam modulation caused by oscillations of cutting tool. Before the cutting tool is brought into oscillatory motion, the position of the tool tip is varied such that the intensity of the receiver signal varies depending on the position of the tool tip, and wherein the position of the tool tip in the region within the light beam is varied stepwise along the direction perpendicular to the light beam, and at each step with the position of the vertex of the tool, the corresponding signal strength of the receiver is matched. Apparatus for determining oscillation amplitude of cutting tool comprises a piezoelectric element and a sensor mounted in a holder, a device for changing oscillation frequency, a device for positioning a tool vertex, a device for determining amplitude of oscillations, a device for matching amplitude of oscillations with oscillation frequency, a device for determining frequency of oscillations, a device for matching intensity of signal with position of the top of the tool.
EFFECT: technical result is the increased accuracy of measurements.
