FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture. Method involves irradiating a leaf plate of plant objects with radiation from the near infrared range and measuring the power of the reflected electromagnetic radiation from the surface of the leaves. Exposure is within range of 750–1150 nm. According to the presence of the mirror component of the reflected mixed light flux from the plant leaves of 5–15 %, the functional state of the plants is evaluated, in which plants are not required watering, reducing the mirror component corresponds to the needs of plants in water.
EFFECT: method enables to determine the functional status of plants for determining their water needs in real time based on irradiation of plant leaves with electromagnetic radiation from the near infrared range and measuring the mirror component of the reflected radiation.
