SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. Device receives and evaluates the first reference signals transmitted by the network node. First reference signals are contained in the first beams. First beams are static or semi-static. Reception and evaluation correspond to the first state, in which the device refrains from sending back the first reference signals. In response to the conclusion that all received first reference signals are too weak and / or too low quality compared to the threshold value, communication device sends a request to one or more network nodes requesting a certain procedure to provide, by beamforming, a beam of one or more second beams specifically for aiming at a communication device. Second beams comprise one or more second reference signals. Device switches to the second state, in which the device actively participates in providing the coating with the beam and is in the battery saving mode.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method carried out by a communication device for controlling coating with a beam.
