FIELD: metallurgy of alloys for watch and jewelry industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of making alloy wire of 8–11 karat gold. Method of making wire from casting alloy of 8–11 karat gold from casting with initial diameter of 20 mm or less to produce wire with finite diameter, in the range between initial diameter of casting and 0.1 mm, includes production of alloy, wt %: Au 33.33–45.84; Zn 3.64–12.44; Cu 18.46–45.02; Ni 9.88–33.78 and 0.0–5.0 at least one element selected from Ir, In, Ti, Si, Ga, Re, wherein total content of elements of said alloy is limited by 100 % adjustment of Cu content, obtaining continuous casting of cast bar, rolling the bar into wire of rectangular cross-section by turning the obtained wire-workpiece by a quarter of turn before each rolling pass and with deformation of cross-section of 20 % or less per pass. Further, accumulated deformation is measured in workpiece of wire and compared to initial cross-section of cast bar, rolling is stopped when accumulated deformation of cross section is achieved 60–75 %, wire billet is annealed at temperature 600–650 °C for 20–30 minutes in reducing gas atmosphere, and then - gas or water cooling. Rolling of wire, measurement and annealing is repeated till achievement of required cross-section of workpiece of wire. Then wire billet is drawn till circular cross-section is substantially round and shaped wire is produced.
EFFECT: providing high capacity for cold treatment without risk of cracking, satisfactory corrosion resistance at required ratio of color and brightness of alloy.
