FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 3-(2-oxoimidazolidinyl-5)indole of general formula I, in which R1=H, C1-C6 alkyl; R2=H, C1-C6 alkyl, C6H4X, where X=Me; R3=phenyl, involving reaction of 5-hydroxyimidazolidin-2-one of general formula II where R3=phenyl, with equimolar amount of indole of general formula III where R1=H, C1-C6 alkyl; R2=H, C1-C6 alkyl, C6H4X, where X=Me, in presence of 1–10 mol. % of boron trifluoride etherate in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature.
EFFECT: disclosed is a single-step method of producing compounds of formula I from available starting compounds, using a standard catalyst, carried out in mild conditions.
