SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used for treating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. A method of treating or preventing idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in a subject in need comprises administering to said subject 15-HEPE or composition containing 15-HEPE. Group of inventions also relates to use of composition containing 15-HEPE, for treating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
EFFECT: use of this group of inventions enables treating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis by using a composition, containing 15-HEPE inhibiting TGF-beta induced production of SMA-alpha (Alpha-smooth muscle actin).
