FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing styrene by vapor-phase dehydration of methylphenylcarbinol-containing material at high temperature on a catalyst containing aluminum oxide in the presence of water vapor with weight ratio of steam: methylphenylcarbinol equal to (1.0–1.2):1.0, respectively. Method is characterized by that dehydration during first 50 hours is carried out at dilution of steam: methylphenylcarbinol by 20–30 % higher than average cycle dilution, after reducing the conversion of methylphenylcarbinol less than 98 % with dilution of steam: methylphenylcarbinol by 12–15 % below average dilution.
EFFECT: use of the invention increases inter-regeneration service life of the catalyst.
