FIELD: veterinary science.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary science, in particular to methods for prevention of calves gastrointestinal diseases caused by opportunistic and pathogenic microflora, and can be used to increase natural resistance of calves from a group of risk to reduce incidence of their gastrointestinal diseases and preservation of young cattle in general. Disclosed is a method for preventing gastrointestinal diseases of young cattle. Method comprises using a biologically active preparation according to the invention, the preparation used is a biotinylated derivative of oxidized dextran, which is a conjugate obtained by reacting biotin hydrazide and oxidized dextran with molecular weight of 40–70 kDa with formation of azomethine linkage in dose of 0.06 mg/kg of calf live weight of the first days of life, intramuscularly, every 72 hours, 5 injections.
EFFECT: reduction of animal disease duration and minimization of losses of their further productivity, increase of natural resistance and body resistance of newborn calves.
