SUBSTANCE: method of controlling an air conditioner, comprising determining conditions for formation of frost on an indoor unit during operation of an air conditioner in cooling mode (S301), when the inner unit in the cooling mode is covered with hoar frost, the control system blocks the flow in the coolant pipe in the direction of the indoor unit (S302). Also one of the air conditioner control devices will be disclosed.

EFFECT: this control method, in which the flow in the coolant pipe is blocked in the direction of the frost-covered heat exchanger, enables to stop the low-temperature coolant continuous input into the frost-covered heat exchanger, thereby preventing aggravation of the problem of frost formation and allowing the heat exchanger to be thawed in a natural way at the temperature of its environment in order to protect the air conditioner heat exchanger from freezing.
