FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to neurosurgery and oncology, and can be used to close the defects of the base of the middle cranial fossa at removal of sphenoid bone alae meningioma and cavernous sinus. Patient's examination involves magnetic resonance imaging with contrast enhancement, spiral computed tomography of the brain and preoperative planning with application of navigation of volume and shape of resection of sphenoid bone alae. 3D printer simulates a basal explant for closing a base defect of the middle cranial fossa at the stage of preoperative planning according to the size of the resectional defect of the base of the middle cranial fossa from Rekost polymer determined by navigation. Explant is laid basally and adjusted with a liquid Rekost polymer in syringes. Convexital bone flap is placed back and fixed with bone sutures to polymer explant and skull arch.
EFFECT: method enables improving the patients' quality of life by using an individual explant in plasty of a postoperative skull base defect.
