FIELD: sealing equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sealing equipment and can be used for production of split gland seals and flange joints in nuclear and chemical industry, as well as in rocket and space engineering. Universal high-temperature seal includes a ring-shaped core made of inorganic, metal fibers or threads, or their combination (1). Seal can have round, square, rectangular or other profile of cross section. Seal center is formed with tension of 10–50 cN. On surface of threads of core from inorganic, metal fibers or threads, or their combination there is applied grease, for example, on the basis of graphite. Seal has single-layer or multi-layer spiral winding of core (2). Spiral core winding is performed in two opposite directions with formation of toroidal cross winding with threads or tapes. Thread and tape are made from inorganic, metal fibers or threads, or their combination. At that, core winding with threads or tapes is performed with tension from 100 to 500 cN. During tape winding, each subsequent turn of the tape partially covers the preceding coil. Core can be made of dissimilar materials having different temperature of thermal decomposition, for example from inorganic fibers or threads with high temperature of thermal decomposition or combination of inorganic and metal fibers or threads and natural or chemical fibers or threads having low temperature of thermal decomposition. After winding with threads or tapes, the seal is subjected to pyrolysis and as a result of thermal decomposition of material with lower temperature of thermal decomposition inside the cavity a cavity is formed.
EFFECT: invention widens the range of sizes and operating temperatures of seals of detachable flange joints.
