SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and device for assistance in towing trailer by vehicle. Sensor device for detecting an object in the trailer environment when towed by a vehicle comprises at least one sensor and a control unit. Sensor is mounted on the rear side of the vehicle with a viewing area under the trailer and is configured to capture the detection signal from the object. Control unit is configured to receive an object signal from at least one sensor and to confirm the presence of the object behind or to the side of the trailer.
EFFECT: higher safety of vehicle control when towing a trailer.
