FIELD: chemical-thermal treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical-thermal treatment of thin-walled iron castings used in the manufacture of agricultural machinery. The method for alloying thin-walled cast iron castings includes applying to the working surface of the mold 1 a composition diluted in water to the state of a coating or paint containing a carbon-containing alloying component, using a punch 2 to form the alloying composition on the walls and bottom of the mold, and pouring cast iron into the mold 1, with in this case, boron carbide is used as a carbon-containing alloying component, and starch is additionally introduced into the composition in the following ratio of components, wt. %: boron carbide 93-97, starch 3-7, the thickness of the mold 1 deposited on the working surface of the alloying composition is from 1 to 1.9 mm, and the mold 1 with the applied alloying composition is heated to a temperature of 880-1050°C.
EFFECT: reuse of boron carbide residues after alloying the product, and, accordingly, a decrease in its consumption.
