SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to technical means of rehabilitation of visually impaired people. Device for blind persons based on sensory substitution comprises a video camera and a processor unit. Video camera is equipped with a function of transmitting a three-dimensional image to a processor unit which forms a distance map, the coordinate value on which corresponds to the distance from the object. Device comprises a tactile matrix consisting of tactile cells, the value of exposure on skin of each of which depends on the value of coordinates on the remoteness map.
EFFECT: use of this invention improves recognition of objects.
