ELECTRODE WITH SHANK FOR CONTACT SPOT WELDING Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC B23K11/30 B23K11/11

Abstract RU 2723849 C1

FIELD: welding.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fabrication of reinforcement mesh by contact spot welding. In the cylindrical cavity of the upper part of the electrode its working part is fixed by means of a bolt with transverse windows and a blind axial cavity open from the end of its head. At the bottom of the cylindrical cavity there are concentric annular grooves separated by circular walls forming a tight zone of coolant circulation. In upper part of electrode there is a window open to peripheral annular groove for circulating coolant, and walls are formed with openings, the latter of which is made in central wall with outlet to central annular groove formed between last wall and side surface of said bolt, connected by transverse bolt openings with its blind axial cavity. Grooves are arranged to divide incoming coolant into two flows, and openings to connect said flows.

EFFECT: cooled surface with said distribution of coolant flow provides higher resistance of electrode.
