SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to systems for ultrasound observation of the position of internal probes used during surgery or examination. A probe for insertion into a body of a subject comprises: elongated body (30); plurality of drives on electroactive polymers (32), mounted on or embedded inside housing surface; and controller (33) configured to control plurality of drives on electroactive polymers, in order to induce them to provide oscillation at frequency not higher than 5 kHz. Group of inventions also relates to a catheter comprising said device, and to a system for monitoring the position of a probe device.

EFFECT: group of inventions enables more accurate identification of the location and orientation of the device within the patient's body by ultrasonic Doppler imaging.
